DuoCall are at it again; Jessops Superheroes 2017
It’s that time of year…
Once again DuoCall will be supporting this year’s buggy push… wait, superhero event! That’s right, after the success of the hero-themed Buggy Push 2016, the Sheffield Hospitals Charity has decided to rebrand their annual event as Jessops Superheroes 2017. So, put your mask and cape on; it’s time to save South Yorkshire’s tinniest patients!
As per usual we want this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever before, and due to the amazing turnout (and commitment to dressing up in spandex) last year it’s going to take some beating. That’s why Jessops Superheroes 2017 is sticking with the hero-theme, and after all, it’s very fitting considering the incredible cause.
When is Jessops Superheroes 2017?
Jessops Superheroes 2017 will take place on 21st May 2017 at 10.30am.
Where will Jessops Superheroes be held?
The rumours are true, this year’s event won’t take place at Rother Valley as it has in the last few years, the Sheffield Hospitals Charity’s 2017 event will be held at Graves Park, Sheffield, S8 8LL. This location will provide us all with much more space for activities including our warm up, superhero meet and greet Elsa (Frozen) singalong and DuoCall’s very own penalty shootout. And as the location has changed, so have the routes…
Jessops Superheroes 2017 will bring us two brand-new routes; a shorter 2.5K walk that’s the perfect length for the little superheroes in your family, and a slightly longer 4K walk that’ll bring fun for the entire family. Not only is Jessops Superheroes a great way to show your support for the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, but all ticket holders will receive a free superhero cape too!
What’s more, you can take part in both sponsored walks in any way you’d like; walk or run with your friends, ride a bike, trike, scooter or even space hopper if you’re up for a challenge! And don’t worry that it’s not called ‘Buggy Push’ anymore; many participants will be bringing their pushchairs along with them. There aren’t any requirements to meet; it’s simply just a day of family fun to help support a brilliant cause.
We’re going on tour!
We’re excited to be joining forces with the Sheffield Hospitals Charity and taking to the streets to recruit Sheffield’s finest superheroes. On 4th May 2017 we will be visiting local businesses with some well-known superheroes to raise awareness of the Jessops Superheroes 2017 event.
Look out for us around Sheffield’s most famous landmarks and locations and keep an eye out on DuoCall’s and Sheffield Hospitals Charity’s social media to see our tour progress.
More details to come, so keep your eyes peeled.
The return of DuoCall’s Family Day Giveaway
Last year we asked all the participants to sift through their children’s (or their own) dressing-up box and get geared up in their best superhero attire and the results were fantastic. That’s why it was so difficult for us to choose the best-dressed family!
The winner of the Buggy Push 2016’s Family Day Giveaway was the Rafferty family who won a family day-trip to South Yorkshire’s very own Wildlife Park on behalf of DuoCall. Like them you could also be in with a chance of winning a family day out; all you have to do is be the best-dressed superfamily on the day of Jessops Superheroes, easy!
Keep an eye on the DuoCall website (and social media) for more details about this year’s Family Day Giveaway.
How to get involved
It’s easy! Sheffield Hospitals Charity are no longer asking you to pay for your tickets out of your own pockets, Jessops Superheroes will encourage all participants to go out and get sponsorship to take part.
“So how much do I have to raise?”
To take part all you need to do is raise £15 (minimum) worth of sponsorship, so talk to your loved ones, work colleagues or fellow students and help support the Sheffield Hospitals Charity raise more than ever before.
£15 minimum sponsorship is required per person, not per family.
You can start by setting up a JustGiving page here or download the sign up form here and email it back to our superhero headquarters email@example.com (or post to Freepost RTLA-AKYY-TKEE Sheffield Hospitals Charity, Fulwood House, 5 Old Fulwood Road, Sheffield, S10 3TG).
Alternately you can get in touch with Jessosps hero team to register at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0114 271 1351.
All proceeds help support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on the Jessops Wing
Patients in all of the Sheffield Teaching Hospital sites are being treated for almost any condition that you can think of. These patients are supported by the Sheffield Hospitals Charity (SHC), an official NHS charity. The SHC invests over £2 million every year in order to enhance the care and treatment of patients that use Sheffield Hospitals. The Charity directs its aid at improving patient care and support, developing the hospital environment, providing the most advanced specialist medical equipment, and by supporting pioneering research into the cause and prevention of key illnesses.
Just one of the units that the SHC supports is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Jessops Hospital. The NICU supports thousands of families every single year through all stages of pregnancy. This includes conception all the way through to care after birth. With over 8000 babies born at the hospital each year, Jessops helps care for around 800 critically ill and premature babies with the assistance of the Sheffield Hospitals Charity. Constant 24 hour care is required in order to help families get through the stressful period of caring for their newly born child. The number of babies who need the Jessop wing’s specialist support is increasing as more and more children are transferred to the hospital from across the county and the country!
That’s why we’re proud to be supporting Jessops for the fourth year running; so come on, give us a hand and help the tinniest patients and their families in South Yorkshire.
