DuoCall team raise £200 for Hospitals Charity by completing 10K run
As proud supporters of the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, DuoCall team members decided to run the Sheffield Ten10Ten in order to raise money. The amount raised so far is £200 and counting.
On Sunday 9th October a few of our team arose from their slumber and made their way down to Endcliffe Park to take part in the Sheffield Ten10Ten. The 7th edition of the event, which takes place annually, was graced with some lovely sunshine and thankfully it stayed that way throughout the morning.
Before the main event kicked off (Ten10Ten) the younger generation took part in the 2.5k fun run. From the side-lines it looked as though all who participated enjoyed themselves - there was even some personal bests set by members of the junior running clubs.
Then it was our turn. After the warm up, taken by the enthusiastic fitness instructors at TRIB3, the first challenge was deciding which starting position to take. These were sorted by predicted time, which worryingly we were allowed to estimate ourselves. Sub 40, 40-50, 50-60 and 60+ minutes were the options. The safe bet seemed to be within the 40-50 group.
Less than a couple of kilometres into the race and it was clear that it wouldn’t be as simple as some first thought. A steep muddy slope saw one member of the team realise his choice of gleaming white, flat–soled trainers was more than questionable.
The rough terrain proved tricky throughout, but thankfully all team members completed the run unscathed and everybody was pleased with their own performance. The day was enjoyed by all and there was a considerable amount of money raised, not only for our chosen charity but many all across the local community.
